The Inspiring Story about 2020 Color of the Year That You Must Know Now

The end of the year is near, and with it comes one of the most anticipated announcements: the color of the year by Pantone.

At Sporvil Ceramics, colors are very important for us. Trends are very important to us.

Because as you know, our work is mainly developing new shapes and decors that go along with what the market needs, and so we need to be on top of trends. At all times.

And without further ado, let’s proceed with the announcement:

The color that will rule the year 2020 is…

Classic Blue 19-4052.

Check the official Pantone announcement below:

“Imprinted in our psyches as a restful color, PANTONE 19-4052 Classic Blue brings a sense of peace and tranquility to the human spirit, offering refuge.”

Pantone on Classic Blue

The Classic Blue inspires in us a feeling of calmness, peace, and tranquility. Much needed emotions for this new decade, according to Pantone.

But…

How did it all start?

The Pantone Institute

For over 20 years, Pantone has been scouting the world looking for new color trends.

It started in 2000 when Pantone selected its first color of the year.

But it wasn’t until 2007 that the color of the year established The Pantone Institute as the front-runner for all things color-related.

Nowadays, in December, when the color is revealed, Pantone also offers a wide array of inspirational products and color combinations palettes (that you can check here).

It is a marketing move to try turning a specific color into a celebrity.

Its selection of color of the year is very influential as it influences product development and purchasing decisions across multiple industries, including fashion, home decor and furnishing, and industrial design.

It is intended to be a color trend forecast for the consumer. Brands know that and start to focus their product development, design, and marketing around the select color.

The truth is, it saves countless hours of research for the brands worldwide, and as soon as it is revealed in December, most designers start looking at how it can be incorporated in their business.
